Spring Break

It’s gray and damp outside today, like most days this time of year in Maine, and I’m once again wishing I could be transported anywhere but here for a few weeks. A tent on the beach somewhere warm, my friend’s family’s house by the beach in Costa Rica, riding the rails out west or in Europe or maybe in a restored 1950s trailer with hot water, bath towels and a kitchen in the West Texas desert.

Trailer Camping with El Cosmico ($130 – 150/night) in the Texas desert

I cannot wait till it is warm and I can get in the ocean!! (dreams of Costa Rica)

CANNOT wait for Costa Rica this fall!!!

I rode Amtrak’s California Zephyr alone from Chicago to San Francisco one summer while in my late teens. It was a terrific trip. Met the wildest people and saw some pretty incredible scenery. I’d love to do it again, but from Omaha to somewhere in Nevada and then rent a car and drive around the west.
